Suspension en bambou tissé illuminant une table de jardin au crépuscule
Fernway · Handwoven lighting

We bring nature home, one strand at a time.

Every Fernway lamp is woven by hand from natural bamboo — designed to last decades and to leave nothing behind.

Our story

It started with a single lamp that nobody could stop looking at.

Fernway began with a simple frustration: rooms full of plastic light. We found the answer in a centuries-old weaving craft — bamboo bent by hand into shades that turn a bare bulb into something alive.

Today we work in small batches with master weavers, and every piece that leaves the workshop is numbered, checked, and unlike any other. No factories. No shortcuts. Just hands, bamboo, and light.

The craft

From a bamboo grove to your ceiling.

Four steps, all by hand. Each shade takes a weaver about six hours — and no two ever come out the same.

01
Harvest

Mature bamboo is cut by hand in managed groves — it regrows in under five years, no replanting needed.

02
Split & soak

Each stalk is split into fine strands, soaked and sorted. Only the most flexible, even strands make the cut.

03
Weave

A master weaver bends the strands around a wave-shaped form — about six hours of work per shade.

04
Check & number

Every piece is inspected, fitted with its cord and socket, then numbered as part of its small batch.

What we stand for

Three promises, woven into everything.

Made by hand

Every lamp is woven strand by strand by a master artisan. Your piece is numbered and signed by its batch — a small series, never a production line.

Respect for design

A shade is a sculpture before it is a light. We draw every curve to shape shadows as carefully as the glow itself — by day an object, by night an atmosphere.

Respect for the planet

Raw bamboo, no varnish, no plastics — one of the fastest-renewing plants on Earth, fully biodegradable, built to last decades instead of seasons.
